Hebrew High is a joint venture between Temple Beth El and Temple Israel.

Rabbi Beth Nichols, Director of Lifelong Jewish Lerning at Temple Beth El and Temple Israel’s Director of TIRS and Family Engagement Naomi Fabes work closely with our director, to create a cohesive and inclusive program, no matter if you identify as conservative, reform or somewhere in the middle!

The wonderful clergy from both synagogues, make the best teachers for our teens, as well as those community members who have given their time and love to our program since its inception.

  • Director of Hebrew High at the Consolidated High School of Jewish Studies

    She brings a deep-rooted background in Jewish professional life, including work at Camp Ramah Galim, USY, American Friends of Magen David Adom, and Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake. Maya grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey, and earned her degree in Organizational Management from Indiana University. She and her husband, Louis, recently relocated to Charlotte, drawn to the city's vibrant Jewish community. For Maya, Jewish education is a calling rooted in l'dor v'dor, passing tradition from generation to generation, and she's passionate about helping the next generation build a lasting connection to Judaism and Israel.
