Our Programs
Hebrew High School
Hebrew High is our main program. The school year is divided into three trimesters of 6-8 weeks, and they each include at lease one Special Event, which are centered around Jewish holidays.
Our classes are meant to be experiential in a relaxed environment which fosters community building and socialization, with a Jewish touch. Our classes change each trimester, and are taught by Temple Israel and Temple Beth El clergy as well as community members. Topics range from Israel, Jewish Identity, Social Action, arts & crafts and traditional Jewish cooking.
Students are able to sign up one trimester at a time, or the whole school year!
Hebrew for Credit
Moving Traditions’ Jewish Identity & Israel track offers teens a thoughtful, grounded educational journey — one that helps them explore modern Israel while deepening their understanding of their own Jewish identity and values. At a time when conversations about Israel can feel overwhelming, polarizing, or lacking reliable information, this program creates space for real learning, honest questions, and meaningful dialogue.
Topics include the history of Zionism, diversity of Israeli society, and the Jewish relationship with state power; skills for recognizing media bias; tools for engaging in disagreement like a mensch; an introduction to Palestinian experiences; and thoughtful, developmentally appropriate exploration of the current conflict and the events of October 7 and the subsequent war. Throughout, teens are supported wherever they are in their relationship with Israel. A wide range of viewpoints is welcomed to the table, grounded in respect, curiosity, and a commitment to Jewish self-determination in our ancestral homeland.
Approved by CMS and Union county to provide language requirement hours outside of school.
1 credit = 2 years of instruction due to the hour requirements.
From beginnings to advanced, our classes are designed to meet each student’s level and pace.
Our classes are led by passionate Hebrew education professionals who integrate project-based learning with the Ivrit Esrai curriculum which was published by the Jewish Agency of Jerusalem specifically for teens living outside of Israel.
